I'm Freelance! 15 months ago

After being laid off and then almost starving and freezing to death in December ‘07, I moved back to Denver in order to find work. It’s been a tough haul but I’m now taking freelance jobs and getting myself set. My goal now is to eventually make it back home (my country home in rural Missouri) and continue working! Sometimes taking the plunge is the hardest, but the only way to reach our goals. Do I miss “home”? YES I especially miss the fresh, clean air, my chickens, and my friends. But, I’m learning a lot living in the city – and I’m especially enjoying how easy it is to find work!

I’ve always been interested in writing, and would like to become a freelance writer. I already am, but not full-time, and not for that long.

At the time being, it’s not likely to happen, but I want to some day.

So while I am not yet full time freelance, I have had 2 days per week for my freelance web development business since December.

And I am loving it.

Sure, my income has gone down a bit, but nothing major. I thoroughly enjoy the days per week, and I get a bunch of stuff done. Heck, I don’t even really mind all the boring businessy finances stuff.

It’s all good ;)

still scared 2 years ago

I am an in-house graphic designer doing freelance on the side. Someday I’d like to take the plunge and be full-time freelance, but I’m am terrified. I’m at the point where I can’t take on any more side jobs because I’m too busy. The next step is a huge one, but I’m working on it!
