"I started planning activities for the weekends and looking forward to them."

How I did it: I decided that I didn't want to spend my free time on the couch.  I started off with little things like planning a fishing expedition (pretty much free!).  I started accepting invitations from family instead of assuming the events would be boring.  When the weather was bad outside, we did things indoors like roller skating, bowling, and visiting museums.  I feel so much better on Mondays because the weekend was fun, refreshing, and packed with memories I can share.  The pictures I've been taking have been a major bonus too.  They're good reminders on rough days of why I do what I do. 

Lessons & tips: Start small.  Decide you're going to do something and do it.  Once you start, you won't want to stop.  Being creative about what you're going to do keeps it interesting.  I would also suggest planning things that don't always revolve around food or alcohol because they are generally expensive and not really "active".

Resources: Local newspapers have tons of activities listed each weekend.  Accept invites from family to birthday parties, open houses, etc.  Also listen to your friends and family.  If they had a good time doing something, chances are you will too!

    Activities Galore! 10 months ago

    Saturday, I attended the 25th annual Delaware Women’s Conference with my mom. We had a great time and learned a lot in our classes. It was a lot of fun and definitely out of the box for me. I even found something I might volunteer for and learned a lot about issues I can get involved in. Other than that, we’ve been spending weekends doing things. We took the kids to the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia which was a lot of fun. We had a snow party during the snow storm, and went fishing again. Tons of fun! I think I can mark this one “done” on my list.

    Gone Fishin' 10 months ago

    On Saturday, my fiance, Anthony and I took our kids fishing. His dad and cousin joined us. We visited three different lakes and ponds in the area and had a great time. I caught a bass and Anthony’s cousin caught about 8 fish. It was really fun even though I refused to touch any of the fish! :) This is our second weekend doing something with the kids and family and I have to say it sure beats vegetating at home. We’ve been taking pictures and I can’t wait to get them all developed!
