Brain surgery 8 months ago

My first one was planned for me when I was found to have a pineal gland tumor with hydrocephalus. They installed a shunt and I was good to go. A few years later when my tumor was growing I went back to that surgeon and he refused to operate so I contacted Duke University Brain Tumor Center and they thought it should be surgically removed. I went and had it done. It was much easier than my first surgery which I was sick for days from. Now I’m good to go again!

I get to have surgery once every 5-10 years. Yippee. 23 months ago

I was born with pulmonary atresia…lovely disease, really…I had a 12% chance of living, and yet I did, here I stand, alive…not well, but alive. I’ve already had 3 major open heart surgeries, and I get to do it again next June. I can’t make my bed without getting out of breath. I passed out on a date one time…then at a party…and again at school.
So, sure, the surgery when I was 8 days old gave me…5 years, the next one gave me 7…and that one gave me 7…but is it worth all the pain I go through in my life? I’m not sure…sometimes I wish the 88% chance would have won.

Effective, but not exactly a day at the beach! 2 years ago

I had to have my biggest and only major surgery when I was nineteen—I had ovarian cysts and the doctors, some of whom worked at an internationally renowned medical center, incorrectly told me that I had cancer. Nice. It wasn’t until I had been in the hospital for days and they cut me open that they said oops, sorry about that. But at least I’m not bitter :) The moral of the story is, sometimes even a second opinion isn’t enough, if they know about the first one and take it at face value.

Just a few more steps and less than a month until I finish all of them. Then I will get a date for my surgery. I am so excited.

Emergency Surgery 2 years ago

My surgery saved my life, so I’m definitely glad I had it! Too bad I can’t remember anything, haha. I was only a week old. :>

my foot surgery. 2 years ago

I had surgery after a little accident that happened when I cut my foot open, cutting nerves, I don’t remember which ones it was, all I know is that I felt pain from my big toe to my ass. So they had to go in to re-attach it. I was under sedatives so it was fun. And then they were done with surgery, they gave me painkillers and I had the best sleep ever!! I woke up the next morning so out of it, it was actually cool cause I was high without doing anything illegal :P I felt so much better, there was no pain at all. So, it was definetly worth it!
