Built one with really old hardware. It’s quite slow, but does what it needs to.

Built a machine that is very much overkill, but it gets the job done.
Story
1x Intel Xeon 3.0 Ghz
Asus (dunno the model) Motherboard
2 Gb Crucial ECC RAM (not cheap)
4x Western Digital 74 Gb Raptors 10,000 RPM (RAID 5)
1x Western Digital 36 Gb Raptor (Boot and Root partition)
1x Western Digital 400 Gb (backup)
3ware 9500-4LP RAID controller
Ubuntu Linux Dapper (6.06.1, supposed to be stable)

Well not entirely true but close enough;) I’ve managed to install lots of web server thinghy and I’m now hosting my own wordpress and plan on experimenting with some CMS. Yay for me :D
