so we are booked in to see Rabbit at the Sydney Theatre Company in January. I am so excited. Its directed by Brendan Cowell who we love…and its part of their twenty for twenty series where there are twenty seats offered at selected shows for $20. Its an absolute bargain!
I love theatre. I love seeing people doing things that I would never ever do. And you have to be totally engaged while watching theatre, unlike tv where I tend to multi task and never really concentrate. And the dialogue is so noticeably different I always get an initial shock – almost like culture shock. I always feel so alive watching live stuff – wonderful. can’t wait!!!
oh oh oh – just saw that they putting on a production of A Streetcar Named Desire with Cate Blanchett – does is get any better than that…must book!

This past week I saw both the Farnsworth Invention and The 39 Steps on Broadway. Both were a little bit underwhelming. Even The 39 Steps which is VERY SIMILAR to the kind of theater I frequently do was a little “safe.” The Farnsworth Invention I thought missed a bazillion opportunities for theatrical magic and wound up being a talking head show.
Both of them had very good performances, especially The 39 Steps.

Having had season tickets to a local theatre for a couple of years now, I think this goal has been accomplished (and well worthwhile).

Most towns in the world have a fringe festival. Google “Fringe Festival” to find one.
Anyway, I see so much theatre, that even after this fringe festival, I’ll see more next year and for the rest of my life. I know actors and most of them do theatre, so I see them and vice versa. Whether or not I’d watch theatre if I weren’t an actor, acting has brought me closer to theatre.

Every year, I see shows. Some years I’m in a show. I bought a frequent fringer pass to see 10 shows. It’s only the third last day and I have two more to see. I have a family member coming to town so that will preoccupy my time. I see most of my plays around fringe time.

Some friends from work and I are going to see “The Complete Works of Shakespeare (in 97 minutes)”. Granted it’s not High Theatre, but it’s a show and it gets me out of the house and laughing!
:-)
