So I’m still a ways off from this goal (in terms of dollars, not regarding time-I could be a day away from it and have no idea of the “how” . . . that would be cool, to reach this tomorrow, but anyway,, I digress. . )

Today I made several Mary Kay sales. I used to support myself via Mary Kay, but since my husband and I bought and run a tanning/massage salon and I became a massage therapist, I haven’t had the time to make and hold appointments or facials and skin care classes. I was attempting to clear out all my inventory by selling it for less than I paid for it (to move it before it goes bad) and in the process, people have started requesting new items to sell. So the investment of what money I do have currently will turn around by next week. Pretty cool.

It’s a start. And I will start making & holding massage appointments in about a week and a half. That will help, although during the past year, the salon absorbed any money I would have made from massages to pay the rent and bills.

I believe the salon will turn around though. In fact, I know it will, and quickly. This will happen so we can show a profit and find a buyer. It’s in the cards for us. Our part is to continue to offer the level of service we would like (love, actually) to receive from the businesses we frequent, continue to know we are making the right decisions, and continue to make the right decisions. It’s easy to type, a little more challenging to actually do this, but definitely possible and probable.

So, today was one step toward acheiving this goal and I can hardly wait until I make the next step!

I work, I get paid, I pay my own rent and bills.

That counts right?!

Slightly negative motivation,

But ever since my parents got divorced (I was 12) I ALWAYS wanted to be able to support myself so I would never have to rely on a man. Just incase the same thing happened to me as with my mum.

So although I am currently doing this, I have added this goal to remind me that although work might be hard sometimes, it will be worth it in the long run when I have paid off my student debts & credit card and don’t need rely on someone else to help me out!

I’d really like to quit relying on my Grandma and Boyfriend for things. I never ask, but they’re always giving, always offering… and I’m always taking, always absorbing their hard-earned cash for my own benefit. I’m actually going to use scholarship money in combination with the money my Grandma gave me to purchase gifts for my family for Christmas. “Grandma… give me money so I can buy you something!” I hardly think that’s what she wanted me to do with her money. I’ll keep my gifts small, but I NEED TO GET OUT THERE AND FIND WORK. even if it’s something little.

Apply for more scholarships.
Get a job.

Yes, this is a big whammy (for the current time, at least). But it is possible, and I want to be able to financially support myself by the time I am 19.

i do this – present tense. being an adult blows when it comes to finances – but i would never have it any other way.
