I need to do something useful with my time. I basically just work and eat and sleep and I don’t even do my work very well! I am determined to do this before the summer. Now if only I get a course sorted while this motivation lasts because otherwise it will just be another “to-do” on an ever-increasing list…
How to do a first aid course
How I did it: My school had someone from LiveSavingAustralia come in and do a course with ninth grade students. We spent 3 days every week learning everything there is to know about first aid.
I felt so proud of myself when I got my certificate and if you have one you can get a part time job a lot easier.

First Aid is an awesome thing to learn, i’d suggest going straight for a lvl 3 qualificiation, lvl 1 is very trivial stuff.
+ you can learn to deliver babies ;D

I spent Saturday doing a first aid course.
I did the flexible learning option through St John Ambulance , which means that you spend some time doing a CD ROM or workbook, then you only have to go for one day.
I think it was my 3rd or 4th first aid course, I can’t remember. I did my first one in year 9 or 10 at school (10 years ago), as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (which I unfortunately never completed). They expire 3 years after you do them, so I’ve done a few.
I think it’s a valuable skill to have, especially given that I work with kids, and teach Sunday School, and lead on camps and stuff… it means I’m prepared, and I know what to do when they hurt themselves.
My Certificate should arrive in the next week or so- I’m pretty sure I passed, but if not they give you a second chance at the assessment.

I did a parasol course that work paid for. I can’t remember everthing they taught me, I guess at some point I should do a refresher course, but some of the fundamentals have stuck.
