I’m trying to write some fanfiction, but it’s based on inspiration. Sometimes, I feel like writing, and other times I don’t. The trouble is, I’m not even past the first chapter…
How to write fanfiction
How I did it: I was really bored last year in the summer. I was browsing through the web and discovered FAnFiCtION. Anyway i started reading the stories and picking up some ideas. Reading these stories helped me get some ideas on how to do the format. I started to write and loved it! It become very popular and over 11,000 hits!!! I was so happy at my success
Lessons & tips: read some stories on the site to get inspired.

You need good motivation to write fanfics. i fell absolutely in love with several pairings in anime’s that not many people write about. that coupled with boredom in english class resulted in about a dozen handwritten pages. i feel proud now all i gotta do is post em on fanfiction.net
ihaveshoos is sorry for being an *utter* flake recently
But not on paper!
I figure I should try and write at least one down. Might give me a bit of a warm up for nanowrimo this year…
I’m not really actively involved in any fandoms at the moment and, thanks to a paramedic program I’ve just entered, I don’t really have any spare time.
I’ve been writing Fanfiction since I was eleven years old, mostly Harry Potter, but I’ve dabbled in all sorts of things, and it’s really great.
Not only do you improve your writing skills, but through sites like Fanfiction.net and te review system, make great friends and have lots of fun.
As said, Fanfiction.net is a good place to start. Look around a bit, read some things and get a general idea of how a good fanfic runs.
Once you have an idea, go into word/open office/ whatever program you have, and start writing. When you get into it, you don’t realize you’re writing and your fingers just keep typing. Eventually, you’ll look back on it and thing ‘Geez! Did I just write that? wow!’
Don’t be discouraged by flames (bad reviews), it happens to all of us at some point and though hurtful, look at where your story went wrong or why they critized it and what knowledge you can use next time. There’s not always a good reason for the flame though, sometimes a bastard is just a moody bastard.
I’m not sure how many I’ve done by now, but I know quite a few are finished. I’m not sure when this goal will be complete, when give up fanfiction writing I guess. And I don’t see that happening for quite sometime…
And for some self-pimpage, here is my page.

There’s some old bad fic in there too, be warned.
I read a fantastic essay the other day by Amy Tan. It was an edited version of the commencement address she gave at Simmons College in 2003. She gave 5 writing tips as life advice and it was great. So simple. 1. avoid cliches. 2. Avoid generalizations. 3. Find your own voice. 4. Show compassion. 5. Ask the important questions. She, of course, said more that just that and it was a very inspiring read. I’ve found myself thinking about these 5 points as I write lately and while I’m not writing much faster, I do think i’m writing better.
I was having trouble sleeping last night so I got up and wrote over 600 words for a fanfiction I’ve been thinking about. it’s kind of annoying that I can only seem to write in the middle of the night. I need to look over what I wrote but I think it was pretty good. at least as good as anything I ever write.
I really mean I want to finish what I’ve started. So I can stop thinking about it all the time. Maybe I need to find a beta but I’m not quite ready to expose my writing to a stranger and I don’t know anyone else who’s interested in fanfiction.
