yay for not buying stuff that was made in sweatshops, and making your own stuff instead!
and if you want cheap fabric, hit up your local second hand store..
i make a lot of skirts out of ruffley pillowcases, lace curtains.. (or just buy some men’s pants and hack the legs off…)

hooray! serious progress made last night. after feeling sad that my boyfriend was on tour and i was home alone and totally lame, i finally motivated myself to figure out the sewing machine i have had for a year and a half and never used!! and it works just fine! not perfectly, but pretty decent.

of the cheap fabric. As for the han-bok, I’ve decided to scrap the jacket part and buy new fabric at Walmart and start over-- I want the jacket longer than the pattern shows—the ladies wearing han-bok on the Korean shows on KBS wear longer ones—- and roomier.

When I buy clothes I’m stuck with the styles the stores sell. It’s hard to find anything decent. By ‘decent’, I mean, something that hookers don’t wear on-duty, as well as something that’s comfortable.

I’m starting to sew a new wardrobe of colorful, exotic outfits. I’ve made 2 salwar kameez outfits (clothing from India), for one I bought fabric from India through eBay. I also buy cheap fabric from Walmart—- the salwar kameez set I’m making today, the fabric for the kameez (tunic-top) was on sale for .50 a yard, and the fabric for the salwar (pants) was 1.00 a yard.

I’m also working on a han-bok Korean traditional dress, finished the skirt but will have to do the jacket over.
