Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

I respect the goal of eating vegetarian, for the sake of the planet, and for the sake of the animals. And I am truly glad to have a few vegetarian recipes in my repertoire.

When I first adopted this goal, we knew that something in my husband’s diet was not right. We thought that vegetarianism might help. Later on, we found out he has celiac disease, so it is wheat, barley, malt, and rye that he cannot eat. Eating meat or not eating meat is not relevant to his condition. So I’ve been feeling the lack of commitment to this goal for some time.

Another of my goals is reading Good Calories, Bad Calories. Reading this book has changed my opinion about eating meat.

So I am crossing this goal off of my list as an “I give up.” 3 years ago

i want to learn to cook quick easy and delicious vegetarian meals im tryin to stop eating animals but i dont know how to cook a meal which doesnt include meat. my goal is to learn before the yr begans so i can start the year off meat free :-) 5 years ago

Ellessy1. Falafel and Tabouli with yogurt condiment

I made falafel (Far East) pita’s with a side of tabouli. Hummus is a staple in our household, but didn’t make it to the table for this meal, though it could have fit in well. The Tabouli was also from a box, but I added lots of veggies, like cucumber, fresh parsley, chopped spinach, cherry tomatoes, yellow bell pepper and a small amount of feta. I also whipped up a yogurt condiment with garlic, chopped cucumber, dill and black pepper to top the falafel. I’m not into boxed meals, but we attempted making falafel from scratch several months ago and it was a big ordeal that turned out funky. However, I bought some bulgur wheat and from now on, will make my own Tabouli. Awesome meal, but had great pains convincing my son to eat it. 5 years ago

I did two more over the weekend – a grilled onion and mushroom sandwich (yum!) with a sweet potato side and a black bean/avocado/tomato mixture in a pita (yuck!). 7 years ago
