In my quest to get all of my possesions down to a bare minimum, I’ve started to investigate the wisdom of putting things in boxes.
I’m not talking about cardboard moving boxes. I’m talking about nice little wooden boxes, containers, baggies, or even plastic bins.
If something is special enough to keep, then it also deserves to be stored in a special box, along with other special things.
This makes keeping things organized a lot easier, but it also makes things much less overwhelming to interact with / think about. An idea found in engineering, and yes, good software design.
I found a little, long metal box that was full of rusty screws and dead bugs. I cleaned it out, and now it’s going to be the home for all my soldering-related stuff. The idea being that it’s a perfect fit, and also much safer for a potentially hot solder-gun.
This soldering box will go inside my tool box.
I’m going to go down to Pike Place Market and get a few of those cool Japanse silk boxes to store all the little trinkets that make it past my minimalist wrath.
