unsubscribe to all the pointless email I recieve instead of just deleting it!

My inbox was getting too full. I didn’t realize how many thing i had subscribed to. lol

And boy, has it felt great! This morning I did some cleaning and organizing. Wow, it turns out I do have time to do the things I want and need to do—when I cut out that hour of messing around on the computer every morning.

So now I’ve been checking my personal email when I get to work. Suddenly a huge percentage of it doesn’t seem relevant or worth my time.

It’s hard, though. Some places that send me email might be spammers, and I worry that asking them to unsubscribe me just confirms that my email address is active, and makes them quadruple their spamming efforts. The easiest ones are the automated lists that have little unsubscribe links at the bottom. The hardest ones? Small, struggling political and social causes that want to keep me updated about their efforts and events. Some poor sucker manages those lists by hand. I know because I’ve done it! I don’t read the emails, but I don’t want the poor volunteer to feel discouraged by seeing my unsubscribe request. I do think they are doing important work—I just don’t want to spend so much of my day skimming emails about it.

I unsubscribed to 3 or 4 of those causes last night. To each one, I added a little personal note like “Thanks for all the hard work, and I will still vote yes on the referendum, but I get way too much email. Thanks for unsubscribing me.” This morning I got several personal responses and I felt good about the whole thing.

They just won’t let me go I’m not really that good – honest!!
I can’t go to any of the gigs they suggest, because Im now back in oz, and they are all based in england.

When I figure how to get away from these crazy email giggers I will consider this goal DONE!!!

But Im still receiving Virtual Festivals…. I’ve gone through the un-subscribing process twice now…. maybe they think Im just haveing a laugh, and I don’t really want to un-subscribe….. Well listen here Mr Virtual Festival, I’m not laughing!!!!

I unsubscribed to CD WOW and ASDA today – both UK companies – and seeing as I don’t live there any more their emails really are pointless!!
