How to finish reading all my half read books
How I did it: It took a long time, but I think I've pretty much completed this goal. I just looked around at my bookshelves and realized that I only have a few half-read books, but they're all "on the go", as I normally read about 5 books at a time. Other than that, the rest of the books on my shelves are either ones I've read, or ones that are on my "to read" list. It feels good!!
Resources: I only joined a few months ago, but my Goodreads.com account is really helping me to track progress and sort everything.

The first three I genuinely loved – I’ve no idea why I stopped. (Some of these I began 3 or 4 years ago, oops.)
A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man
Albion
Blake
Lolita
The Great Gatsby
The Master and Margarita
Things Fall Apart
Christina's Friend is blessed beyond measure!
when I finish them.
Right now I am trying to read four books at one time. All four sit on my night stand.
Like I said, I shall finish them when I finish them. Not in a hurry though.
Well, not really. I am not officially giving up, but there are always so many new books I want to read, that this goal is one of the hardest on my list! I am sloooooowly finishing things, but I have also started a few new ones since last I updated. Sigh.
Christina's Friend is blessed beyond measure!
Yeah Right.
And I started reading The Audacity of Hope. The list keeps growing. However, I plan to finish The Audacity of Hope. It is a great read so far.
Here’s my current progress….
Adrian Mole the Wilderness Years (Townsend)—reshelved (for now)
Angel of Darkness (Carr)—still reading
Birds of Passage (Sole)—reshelved (for now)
Call of Chthulu (Lovecraft)—still reading
Darwinia (Wilson)—abandoned
Dirt, the ecstatic skin of the earth (Logan)—still reading
Life of Pi (Martell)—reshelved (for now)
Magic Labyrinth (Farmer)—abandoned
Ocean Sea (Baricco)—reshelved (for now)
Time Traveller’s Wife ()—just started, because I am insane
Weaverworld (Barker)—reshelved (for now)
I feel better making the decision to reshelve or abandon some of the titles. Abandoned titles are those I’m not sure if I will ever start again; reshelved are those that I fully intend to read at some point.
Checking in on this goal and I really stink at it. This was my list of unfinished books when I started this goal:
Angel of Darkness (Carr)
Birds of Passage (Sole)
Darwinia (Wilson)
Dirt, the ecstatic skin of the earth (Logan)
Haunting of Hill House (Jackson)
Life of Pi (Martell)
Lord Valentine’s Castle (Silverberg)
Magic Labyrinth (Farmer)
Ocean Sea (Baricco)
Positively Final Appearance (Guiness)
Right Ho! Jeeves (Wodehouse)
I finished three (Right Ho! Jeeves; Lord Valentine’s Castle; and Haunting of Hill House), abandoned one (Positively Final Appearance) and started a few more; among them:
Haunted (Palahniuk)—now finished
Good Omens (Pratchett/Gaiman)
Adrian Mole the Wilderness Years (Townsend)
Call of Chthulu (Lovecraft)
I clearly have a problem. :)
I still have a dozen half-read books lingering around my house, so this goal is not reachable at this time. I’m not giving up though. Just… admitting that it’s going to take time.
stiff and life, the universe, and everything. i might decide not to worry about finishing intimate behavior. it’s interesting, but the writing’s kinda dry.
that leaves:
* the last night of the earth poems
* uzumaki (v. 3)
not bad.
to help me achieve this goal, i made a list of books i’ve started and not finished, yet.
- intimate behavior
- the last night of the earth poems
- life, the universe, and everything
- stiff: the curious lives of human cadavers
- uzumaki (v. 3)
i was surprised it wasn’t longer.
once i’ve finished these, i’ll start with the list of books i own and haven’t read at all, but first things first.
