Learn cake decorating

I think this is one of the best cakes I’ve done so far. It was my grand son’s Birthday and his party theme was sports.

I had fun making this little cake for my grand daughter. She turned 4 in June and Princess with her theme for her little party.

My oldest daughter got married at the end of May and asked me to make her cake. After a few attempts, I finally got a near perfect cake. But on transfer to the church there was a little mishap. The wedding cake slide off center and the groom’s cake split in two, but I was able to correct it. So here are the end results.

I finished the first course of “The Wilton Method” tonight. I’ll try course 2 on my own and if have trouble will sign up for another session.

I want to learn how to decorate cakes properly. I’ve signed up for course 1 and am hoping to do course 2 as well.

i work at a bakery, and the bosses have recently decided that they want all the girls to learn how to write on cakes. I can write well, and i know how to make rosebuds, and there are some other basic things i learned about cake decorating from watching our cake decorator. It’s alot of fun to be able to decorate a cake for someone. I was shaky at first, but it gets much easier with time and practice.

I’m in the process of practicing with the little bit of knowledge that I already know.

(8/4/08) Today I ordered a cake decorating kit from Betty Crocker. I can’t wait to try it out. My mom and my sister both decorate cakes and I’m going to surprise them with maybe a Thanksgiving cake. I’m sure it will take me at least that long to learn how to make one that looks presentable.
