I’m never going to climb Denali. Not that I can forsee. We’ll see what happens, but this is not a formal goal for me any more.

I’m cutting back on skiing this year, and hope to get in more highpoints. I have a second attempt of Hood planned in June. Other hopefuls include: Missouri, An early September trip could knock out (5) on one trip: Massachusets, New Jersey, Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York. I’d like to figure a way to work in Idaho in late July or early August, on a long weekend.

I only added 3 peaks this year: Maine, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Somehow missed the exit for New Jersey after a 1,400 mile motorcycle ride, didn’t feel like backtracking. The Massachusets highpoint access road was closed!
loonlaugh is slowly working through the list.
1. Mount Mansfield
Great hike with gentleman caller. As we ascended into the Arctic Alpine zone (which a girl like me should never be in…) I froze. but I also mounted the USGS survey tag, raised my frozen arms in the air and bounced. Did not fall off the mountain and won 20 questions on the descent. In fact, I dominated.
Couldn’t think of a better way to start this project!

So far I plan to do Katahdin and Whitney for sure this summer. Couldn’t believe we got picked in the Whitney permit lottery my first try! I may knock out Oklahoma and Kansas next month if I can talk someone into tagging along. I’d like to do five this year, so I’m still trying to think of one more….
Oh, here’s my blog with some of my trip reports. I’ve only done about sixteen to date. http://houstonguy.blogspot.com/
Finally, here’s a link to an online list to track your highpoints! http://www.listsofbests.com/list/1516
I’m actually only planning on climbing 49 state highpoints- I’ll visit Denali Nat’l Park in Alaska, but no way am I going to attempt THAT peak!
Aaron going to be apple picking.
I’m clearing up goals, that I either feel are unrealistic, or way too long term to complete in the forseeable future. This falls into the unrealistic category. I love the idea of it, but just can’t see myself completing it.
