So far I have climbed 31 of the 14ers; there are 59 named 14ers in Colorado, so I still have 28 to climb. My goal is to climb them all in the next 30 months.

I need to recount, think I’m at 33 now…. long way to go. Going to be realistic about the timing though. If I can get them all done by my 54th birthday, that’ll be good.

of Colorado 14ers (peaks with elevations exceeding 14,000’) seems like it would be easy to determine. However, there is some controversy about exactly what is considered a separate peak. The most common definition requires a minimum of a 300’ climb from the saddle between two points to consider them as different peaks.

Under that criterium, there are 54 peaks in Colorado that exceed 14,000’ in elevation. However, El Diente Peak, with only a 259’ rise from the saddle between it and neighboring Mt. Wilson, has traditionally been considered a separate 14er. I am including it, so my list actually has 55 peaks on it.

Note that there is less than 450’ of difference between the highest and the lowest of these peaks- the elevation does not correlate to the difficulty of the peaks. Some of the hardest are among the lower ones (Sunlight, Pyramid, Wilson, and North Maroon) while some of the comparatively easy peaks are among the highest (Lincoln, Grays, Torreys, and Evans).
