serenete is having a stuffy nose.
but that it must be placed waaaaaaaaay down the list! and i make it so.
I’ve got the theory down, the basics, I’ve done it once or twice. Now I need to get my feet practiced and familiar with the overall action so that if I end up in the desert with a dead tired gal, she won’t have second thoughts about letting me drive her car. I only made the clutch squeal once, y’know. Stalling four times shouldn’t even count.
My parents wanted me to drive my new car to Edison, NJ, four hours round trip. It was a pretty intense trip, since my parents thought I was perfect with stick.
I didn’t do anything to convince them otherwise. I was on top of it perfectly.
In fact, later that night I had to drive to NJ again, this time with my fiancee to take the bar exam. That was a five hour round trip – but we stayed overnight. In the meantime, I drove all over Parsipanny / Whippany NJ.
I feel much better about stick. It’s a heckuva lot of fun, too, once you get the hang of it.
Interestingly enough, I bought a car (2005 Scion xB), manual, without test driving or even seeing it in person.
Perhaps I should have thought it out better – I and my fiancee needed me to learn this car asap. I purchased the car because just the week before, I had gotten into a car accident. And, when I bought the car, I bought it 66 miles away from home – all of these things made it quite an ordeal.
So, I’m was on the verge of trading it in for an automatic, but can’t justify my failure and the exhorbitant cost of financing a new automatic.
Just need the strength and courage to learn… I fear screwing up so badly that I hyperventilate and get anxiety attacks.
This is murder…
