Still struggling 16 months ago

I don’t know why I’m having such a hard time with this goal. I don’t think I’m addicted to pop, and I don’t know that I necessarily “crave” the sugar. More often than not, I fall back into drinking pop because I want to taste the flavor again. Maybe that has to do with the sugar..I don’t know. Starting tomorrow though, I am going to try this again.

I think I'm officially diet soda free! 19 months ago

I made it over two months without a diet soda, and then I had one while at a conference a few weeks ago. At first, that Diet Pepsi tasted pretty good, but by the end … well, it didn’t. I might still want one occasionally while eating a fast-food type meal … but since I’m eating a lot less of those these days, I don’t expect it to be a huge issue. And yes, I think getting away from diet soda – and artificial sweetener in general – has helped me have fewer cravings for sugar.

(I should add that I gave up regular soda ten years ago. I can barely tolerate even a sip now, and I used to drink it by the 32-oz moose cup.)

A cup of coffee in the morning (half-caf now that I’m trying to get pregnant). Peppermint tea during the day if I want something sweet. Hot chocolate made with skim milk in the evening. Otherwise, it’s water, water, everywhere, all the time.

I pretty much stopped about six months ago 19 months ago

when they started talking a lot about how diet soda pop is as bad as regular.

I drank a lot of it for a while, but not anymore. I think I have had 1 cola and 2 Monsters since October 2007.

Ruined 19 months ago

I have ruined all progress on this goal since the last posting- no concentration on it at all. However, over the last two days I have had a couple pops and thought they made my stomach upset, therefore, I think the next couple of days will be easier to pass it up again. It’s just such a convenience, but there are so many other drinks that could be convenient also!

3 days no pop 21 months ago

I went for all of Thur, Fri, and Sat. without drinking pop. I had some again tonight and was a little disappointed with myself. It seemed to be easier to pass it up the longer I went. We’ll see how this week goes. I’m not entirely sure if I want to drink less pop or give it up completely. I think it may be easier on my body to just give it up completely instead of depriving myself of it every couple of days.

No pop at home 21 months ago

with the exception of the occasional 2 liter that we bring home with pizza..we haven’t purchased cans of pop to have at home for about two months. That has been helpful. I have one can at work usually (vending machine) and then water or milk the rest of the day. Once I start supplying myself with water at work I think this will go better.
