I haven’t quite finished my course but at least I have some clue about pronunciation and a bit more idea about culture and marae protocol – so I count this as done. I will never be able to speak it as such but at least to recognise some words is nice.

It’s going well, its fun and I think it will be really useful. Speaking of which I need to get out my words to learn :)
I have now enrolled on a course starting at the end of the month, :)
Hmmm well ive alwayz been quite interested in the Maori language since ma primary skool dayz aye. And so yeah I ended up taking the Beginner’s Maori course at ma high skool! We learnt how to do an introduction korero thing and also a bit about their customs and stuff.. I cant really speak it unless I refer back to my notes aye coz it takes a lot of time and practise to actually be able to speak fluently; as does wif any other language lolz ~ mmm but yah all in all i reckon twas a pretty awesome learning experience! Definitely worth giving it a go guys =]
Well I have attended several classes. I find I can read most words OK and my pronunciation has inproved but I have just not got the confidence to get up and speak it with others in the room who can.

I have lived in New Zealand for 34 years and there are not many Maori where we are, so I haven’t learned. But I would like to work in a library, so it will be very useful. Some of the high schools around here offer beginners evening classes, so will dip my toe in the water with that, before going all out at uni.
