My poor organisation comes from.... 4 days ago

...not wanting to deal with the challenges i face ! I am organised in every aspect except in my own life – I am finally starting to understand what it is i want to do with my life and where i want to be a few years down the line – now comes the tough part, organising and planning on how to achieve those goals.

So, I’ve started by getting organised on a day-to-day basis – I went to the stationary store and bought a giant whiteboard and some markers. I wrote out columns for the days of the week and colour coded everything i have to do according to whether it was financial, personal, DIY, family related etc.

It’s only been a few days but so far it’s working – I find it easier to visualize the things i need to do and have them ‘in my face’ – by doing that, i know they are not going away !

I also came across this handy resource:

this is a difficlut one, as a love to plan everything and be organised but get lazy, so want to keep on top of things instead of putting them off, having a list of 100 things to do is not organised lol!

Use the internet more 1 month ago

I have a number of websites I use on a semi-regular basis and most of the sites do what I want but then there are always other really useful sites out there so I should check out more and I noticed someone had a cool goal which had lots of good websites listed so I’ll probably have a look through when I have time and see which woul be useful to me.

since my last entry although that was 2 years ago, after things going badly in Australia I picked myself up again and have shaken off the tenderness, now I have a new phone whcih allows me to uset he calender function so I can almost always keep track of the things I have to do and include reminders, I also use Outlook at work a lot and things are going pretty good.

Divide & Conquer 4 months ago

I have a hectic couple of weeks emerging on the horizon now that my holiday is over and being organised is going to be more critical than ever. In an effort to keep several ongoing projects distinct and arranged I’ve got myself a shiny new filing cabinet to compartmentalise what my brain clearly cannot.

Now, if only that big mountain of mixed-up paperwork could oblige me by sorting itself out and filing itself away…

Perhaps if I snap my fingers like Mary Poppins?

How do you to-do? 5 months ago

With a Dodo-Pad, silly!

I am so in love with this dandy little doodle book so full of irrevent quirks and antiquated caricatures; a spiral-bound reflection of how my mind (mal)functions. Enthusing aside, this really is a very useful organisational tool. Unlike most diaries I’ve come across there is space aplenty for jotting down daily things-to-do and it is unregimented enough to allow you to personalise the structure to your own lifestyle and your own work-habits. And it’s so much more fun than a filofax.

I’ve started so many diaries and failed as many times to use them consistently but my Dodo is a work of art that demands appreciation.

Back to work 5 months ago

First day back to work after a week off and the new me has started well. Got organised this morning with a list of jobs that needed to be done today and managed to achieve all of them so my day is clear for a whole new list tomorrow. I do have to write down absolutly everything though cos my memory is terrible, consequently I have come home tonight with the back off my hand covered in random words and scribbles but if that’s what it takes then that’s what i’ll do!
