Locals have them and they look amazingly cool. And I would want it to be my first tattoo because it would be a memento of the entire experience.

Today as I was leaving the Barnes and Noble in Bethesda, satisfied with the amount of fighting I did to get my damn cognitive psychology manual returned, I let my mind wander to this time next year when I may be free of my undergrad. Next year is also a Hawaii year (my grandmother takes my family every other year). I had this incredible daydream that I went on the vacation like usual and then told everyone while we were there that I wouldn’t be going back with them. I could get the ticket changed and stay as long as I want. It felt lonely and liberating at the same time.
Maybe I will dream about it for real tonight.

Looks like you can still do it but you need a permit. Whatever. I’ll go through the red tape for that kind of opportunity.

Real estate has gone up and I assume security risks have as well. Would you need a long term camping permit? Does it vary from island to island?
I lived out of my car and a tent with my boyfriend on Kauai- pre 9/11. I don’t think it’s that easy to do anymore, but it was the best time of my life!
