I’ve had this goal for a couple years and I confess that I haven’t done a lot of active work toward it. But that I still remember quite a bit more than I did when I started.
Mostly it’s happened spontaneously while I was off doing other things. (Isn’t that the way of things all too often?)
I started meditating and having that regular practice of shutting up and listening has really helped- and not just this but also in generally being more functional.
My only complaint is that it seems like most of the really vivid memories I’ve dredged up are from one life in particular and they’re largely unhappy or even traumatic. I’ve worked through those issues and that’s helped me in the here and now but I’d dearly love some happy memories once in a while!
