How I did it: I went shopping with one of my friends who was making sushi that evening and I thought 'hey, this is quite easy'. So I bought a sushi kit and made some. Read how I did it…

How I did it: Cooked sushi rice and added the rice vinegar/sugar/salt blend while cooling the rice for the right sticky texture.Cut out veggies and fish (tuna, crab and salmon), roasted white sesame and made a spicy sauce of mayo, chili paste and sesame oil. Made sure to have all ingrediens ready beforehand.Added rice on top of nori plate, then stripe of ingredients, folding the bamboo mat covered in film and rolling the nori together. How I did it: On New Years Eve, me and my friends decided to make our own sushi (or no, they decided to make lasagne, but I said fucking no, and bought hella lot of sushi stuff =D)Since I had never made sushi before, I almost forgot the rice vinegar - luckily my friend told me to buy it before I left the store =)I washed the rice, a lot (I sure hate that part X___x'), I cooked it, I sliced the cucumber and avocado, and made the crab, eel, inari & t… Read how I did it…

How I did it: get a recipe, ingredients, go for it.in my recipe book there was even a recipe for a loose bowl of rice with a piece of raw fish on. it doesn't get much easier than that! Read how I did it…

It was awesome, and pretty easy, actually. I didn’t end up finding a sushi mat, but mine stayed together OK just by rolling them up by hand and squeezing a little bit. I did veggies and smoked salmon, because I don’t really have a trustworthy raw fish place…or at least I was nervous. But avacado-cucumber-smoked salmon sushi turned out to be DELICIOUS. I’m going to definitely make this again.

I checked out a book from the library on making sushi, so that’s the first part. I am going to start with veggie-sushi, just because I don’t really know the best place to get fresh fish. And once I experiment with the veggies, I can worry about the fish part!
Jahlizz is up too late.
I need a sushi mat, a rice cooker, a good knife, and someone who could point me in the right direction as to where to get the freshest fish. But I’ll do this!

I didn’t think they’d appreciate the sushi, so even though I made it anyway, I had them all to eat. They taste best when eaten right away.

We bring munchies and all sorts of goodies to our staff meetings/work-shops, and I bought some fried tofu pockets this past Saturday. I plan to make inarizushi pockets to bring. We’ll see how they turn out, or I might make rice paper wraps.

Two week-ends ago, a bunch of us got together, and rolled our own california rolls. it was great fun, even though i over-cooked the rice a little.
next up, i would like to make nigiri and some handrolls :)
My bestfriends had a sushi party tonight, and I got to roll my own sushi. It was cool, definately will do it again :)
I’ve become addicted to making it! I’ve found that:
a) while sashimi is really good, rolls with just veggies and/or tofu are great too and not as expensive or scary.
b) wash the rice really well!
c) again, get a good knife
d) a little goes a looooong way
e) don’t let the supermarkets trick you, i’ve noticed that some things (nori, ‘sushi’ rice) are more than double or triple the price of an asian food store
