Here is my completed painting. It’s painted in acrylics, but I prefer oil paints, for their slower drying time. Mind you, I haven’t painted with oils for about ten years, so I might give oil painting a go, and find out for sure.

I’m taking art lessons again, and I started off drawing, now I’m doing a landscape painting in acrylics. It’s of weeping willows besides a river, very loosely based on a photo my husband took in Christchurch, New Zealand. I’m so happy I’m painting again. Now that my children are in school I’m able to spend a bit more time pursuing my creative goals.
I’d love to sell my paintings and drawings, so I’ve got to practice. It’s fun!

Just do it...
I started 3 last month, finished 2, almost done with the other one, and I have already started 2 more! the problem with painting, is that you sit for hours and think, “what do I paint?” Instead you should just pick up your brush, dip it, and let your imagination flow. You will be surprised with what you get!

I did this one after a big nasty 20inch snow storm. The snow is actually collaged corn starch, that was sealed on with an acrylic spray. Did the same thing in the first winter picture.

Just finished this one. Think I’ll call it something like winter melting. Its acrylic mixed with varying amounts of gloss medium and binder drizzled down the canvas, flipped and repeated. Sorry the picture is not too great, this and the last one are on the wall in a narrow hallway, so to take the pictures I actually had to hold the camera upside down against the opposite wall. Not all that graceful. Thanks for looking.

To continue my streak of seasonal paintings I did this one about a month ago.

Again, mixed media. This one was inspired by a comment emelle made to me while we were out on a walk this last fall. She noted how beautiful the leaves looked against the very blue sky. This piece tries to capture that and also capture the feel of leaves blowing.

I guess its more accurate to say mixed media as it has acrylic paint, impasto and collaged leaves.

Been a while since I posted anything. Here is a painting that I did in early fall. This was the first time that I painted on a canvas with gallery edges, which I really liked.

I painted two days ago, while my children were at school and kindergarten. I showed my painting to my son when he got home. He looked at it and said, “what is it meant to be?” (It’s two children at the beach.) Oh, well, I know it’s not finished yet, and it’s a bit rough in places, but at least I accomplished something- surviving a comment from a critic! My son did say it nicely, though.
At least I can say I did some painting!
