dragonfly2 is firing up her inner runner!

actual goal 7 months ago

I have just realised I would do better with an actual goal with a time frame. So here goes. No ebay purchases for 6 months. That means no ebay purchases till Otober 18th 2009 (eek!)

going good so far 7 months ago

I have been avoiding ebay and not even looking at the site as I know I will be too tempted if I do. Havent bought anything for the last week so that is a good start -just need to keep it up!!

Ebay queen 7 months ago

I love to shop and what better than shopping 24/7, no limits! Of course the delivery of all the little parcels in the mail makes it feel like christmas. It is so addictive and the whole paypal thing -just click a button and you feel like you arent even spending money at all -that is -of course -until you see your credit card bill OR WORSE your hubby does!!! It wouldnt be so bad, but a fair bit of the stuff isnt as you imagined or doesnt fit. I have got some great stuff too however!

Anyway -I have now stocked my wardrobe and it’s time to break the adiction -maybe I can start selling instead of buying and make some money out of it!!

It's been one month. I'm happy, my bank account is happy, everyone's happy 2 years ago

Except eBay, USPS, and the credit card companies. They miss my money.

And oddly enough, I don’t feel the need to resume my online shopping spree yet. Maybe it will stay that way.

2 more days, and my shopping list is getting started 2 years ago

On the good side, the shopping list isn’t nearly as long as I feared. Even better, it’s mostly things I can purchase at local stores here, so I might be able to extend this goal somewhat.

6 more days, another entry so soon? 2 years ago

This isn’t anxiety from trying to resist bidding on everything I see on ebay, but instead it’s excitement from being able to check off this goal as “done” in a few days.

After that, I’ll limit my spending (or put that money in the bank instead).

11 more days, then I will gladly mark this as "done" 2 years ago

The eBay withdrawal symptoms seem to have faded greatly, which is nice. Although I wonder if the Postal Service staff are worrying about me, since they’re well used to delivering several packages to me on a daily basis (they know me well now).

Adding a small "side goal" to this goal 2 years ago

Now the credit card balances are paid off, I’m going to make an extra challenge for myself and try to not use a credit card to buy anything for the next month (31 days from my last entry)

This should be easy without eBay, since I always use the “pay with credit card” option to pay my won auctions even though PayPal continuously begs me not to.

I've been spending nearly $500 every month on eBay. That stops now 2 years ago

And most of what I buy there are things purchased “just because”. That “save money” goal of mine would cry if it saw this. I hate to say this, but eBay’s becoming somewhat of an addiction for me. So I have no choice but to break that habit.

For now, I’m going to try and last a whole month without bidding or buying even one item on eBay.

I made myself stop after I bid on a bunch of mighty morphin power rangers stuff – thinking I wouldn’t win most of them…. cos about 6 shirts and power rangers bedsheets later, I realized how wrong I was.

It was so much fun getting packages in the mail, though.
