But the only problem is I’m 38. I do speak five languages fairly fluently though, so it’s a good start.

I would rather speak five languages fluently before attempting to go on to forty! 23 years away is too far to imagine at the moment.
So I am giving up on this, I want to reach atleast four languages by the age forty though!
This goal is crazy! I love it. Forty languages, I can speak one fluently (English) and another one not so much (Welsh) but I am prepared to learn forty languages, sounds like fun. I don’t know if I would be able to speak forty fluently, I definitely want to speak fifteen fluently. I am going to be taking lots of Welsh books out of the school library and digesting those soon so that I can push ahead with speaking Welsh fluently, I have the basics in check. I always felt like I was placed in the wrong group for learning Welsh last year in school, the class was too slow and not advanced enough for my liking along with the fact they complained a lot. Never a good combination. Languages have always interested me though.

English – Fluent
Welsh – Second Language
German – Basic grasp, not much knowledge (Taken as GCSE)
The United States is the only country where people believe you can learn a foreign language in two years.

since I was 12-14… something like that. I have collected languages like some people collect stamps or butterflies.
There is a Finnish song “Osaan sanoa kymmenellä kielellä kiitos, osaan hyvää uutta vuotta toivottaa…” (I can say thank you in 10 languages, I can wish good New Year…) Yes, I can. But it isn’t enough. I want to be able to use all these languages as easily as I use English, Finnish or Swedish…
It is possible. I just need to learn a language well in every coming month LOL
