fix my website

okay, bounced ideas off of ember and my sisters and I think I’ve nearly got the layout done, then all I have to do is figure out how to code it. I figure this might be a good time to get the manual out for that snazzy software I own but haven’t ever used (Microsoft Expression Web)...

I played around with my photography website tonight. I made the logo a link back to the main page, added buttons for topic galleries, organized the galleries based on topics, uploaded some additional photos, and made each page/gallery link to the next one.

I’m not thrilled with how this looks yet, but it will suffice until I can get my head around how I want it designed.

After fussing with the migration process for too long, I decided to ditch my server and my entire previous website (it was horribly out of date anyway). I decided to reactivate my old mac account on mobile me and so far I have been very happy! It’s fast, professional, and I’m not losing my mind. I was able to put together an entire website for the benefit a couple of nights ago and it looks pretty good. I will no longer waste valuable time on this! Now I can focus on getting together a new photo gallery of work and new buttons from paypal. Totally jazzed!

...but my server is being really stupid. We had a migration to another web builder this week, and now I can’t do anything without being timed out or everything getting all screwy. I need to have a new website up by the end of the week and I’m not able to do it under these circumstances. I don’t have time to rebuild it, and the server isn’t allowing me to fix it (and I don’t want to lose my domain name) so I’m in a bit of a pickle. Quite frustrating…I’ll figure something out. Just need to breathe…

So I’ve got the ability and the software…I just need to schedule the time. I think I’m just going to dedicate an hour every day for web building until I get it finished! My webhost is switching over to a new type of webbuilding software, so I am waiting to see if it’s more user-friendly, or if I just want to make my own pages from scratch. I’m leaning toward the latter. First step: Design the page. This afternoon, I work on my logo.

I can’t believe it took this long to straighten this mess out. Stupid portfolio! But it is done-the result is, I could not care less what happens with it now. I don’t care if I pass my committee, I’m just glad I don’t have to do the work anymore!

I have .VOB format DVD that needs to be edited and uploaded to the web-any suggestions what site could I edit the video (its an hour long), I don’t need the whole thing on line, just a portion . . .

So psyched about this! I just made a simple flash animation and used that for the entire site. And the timing was perfect. Right before I started work and the magazine comes out.

My goal is to change it every month!

This project, now undertaken, is the master of my world. Every once of time spent not doing this weighs on my heart and brain like an anchor.

Last Sunday, I fixed some things but broke some others. Now the site is messed up.

I was building an entire new site in Flash but realized that that was going to take much longer that expected. So I am between two worlds.

The sad things is that a guy I have been hanging out with has been helping me a little but not nearly enough. I feel funny asking him to do more; but even funnier knowing that he know it’s messed up and hasn’t mentioned anything.

Each weekend, I dedicate time to do it but the the time gets eaten up w/ chores. Not to mention that I work six days a week, with double shifts on Fridays so often I’m just too tired.

Today also I had blocked out some time. But one of my jobs is having a Christmas party and I am going to that to get wasted. I deserve it.
