Break my internet addiction and start some serious writing is the most urgent thing now.

This didn’t actually turn out to be as hard as I expected it to be. Do other things. The Internet is a massively useful tool and source of entertainment, it is not the end-all be-all of human existence. I miss it when I can’t look something up instantly, but then I shrug and move on because there’s nothing to be done when I’m not near a computer. Obviously I (and other life forms) got on just fine without it in the past. You can, too.
I think I’ve done it. I haven’t visited the time sink website in a whole week. I don’t even really miss it. Yes, the internet is really boring without going there, but that’s a good thing, because I don’t spend as much time on the internet any more. It’s helped me be more productive at work, at least. At home I still get sucked in by Wikipedia and such, but at least my blood pressure is so much lower now.
I’ve gone a whole day without visiting the time sink website. I think it made me more productive at work, plus slightly more likely to not run afoul of the internet monitors. (in case they are monitoring our internet usage) It was hard, but it was actually easier than I thought it would be. I have now deleted the site from my internet favorites folder, because that way it isn’t too easy to fall back into clicking on the site by habit.
This is partly because of the FlyLady reminder to not get sucked in by the computer. It’s also because I need to make a break with reading internet blogs. There’s this one internet news site, that I’m actually a sort of charter member of, and it eats all my time. The problem is that almost everybody there is completely and diametrically opposed to me. I tried to stick it out, as a way of promoting diversity and dialogue. I wanted to show that I was a good sport. But it’s just not working out. I don’t feel that there’s a place for me at that table. There are so many other things that I could do with my time.
I’ve limited myself to two hours computer usage a day to try and get other things done with my life!
[Tidal Wave] is needing to update this, it's been two years!
I stay off for like a week, but then I get on for like 4 hours a day…I really need to lower it to like, an hour or less a day, but I’m working on it…
