I moved to California about 3 years ago, and I’m in love with the Sierra’s. My husband and I have been hiking yosemite and all around Southern California. Hiking trails close to home, or short distance hikes don’t scare me at all. But I would like to have the courage to take a week long backpacking trip alone in the Sierras, the John Muir Trail, or something similar by myslef. Night time alone gives me the heebie geebies, hehe, I get scared, but only if I’m alone.
I would like to get to the point where I can backpack solo and not be scared, but enjoy nature and be comfortable in my environment, where ever that may be.

There’s no feeling in the world like waking that first morning after you’ve spent your first night alone in the woods. You’re bulletproof.

The best way to travel! You see what you want to see, when you want to see for how long you want to see it. Not to mention- you have no choice but to interact with locals instead of being attached at the waist with another.

It was a series of exciting moments: booking my budget airline ticket online, arriving at Denpasar airport, avoiding the taxis and taking the local bemo instead, negotiating fares with the locals, travelling for two solid weeks in Bali!!.. Needless to say there was some frustrating, and lonely moments. Overall, I had found the whole experience worthwhile. I can’t wait to do it again in countries such as Laos, Cambodia, Nepal, Tibet.. etc..!!
