We’ve got a sprint triathalon happening in Anchorage, so I am starting my training this week. Hopefully I’ll have enough time to train!
How I did it: I started training towards the end of January, slowly building up time and intensity. Some days I'd train 2 or 3 things to get used to that. During the Tri, I gave it my all and came in faster than I thought I would despite a horrible transition time!!! 1 hour and 37 minutes for my first triathalon. Next year, aiming to get it down to 1 hour and 10 minutes. Even though I was working hard the whole time, I never doubted my ability to finish, and even came in for a strong sprint across the finish line!
Lessons & tips: Have a well planned out training plan and really work on transitions BEFORE the race day! Talk to those who have done it, they are invaluable sources of info
Resources: My awesome bike, legs that wouldn't quit, and my massive muscular back that I developed from swimming!

Yesterday I was pumped to try my first practice run at a sprint tri distance…
When I was about to begin I noticed that the pool was full for swimming lessons. No biggie I thought, I will just do the order backwards…run, bike, swim!
The run went surprisingly well…3.1 Miles in under 24 minutes (for me that is blazing)
The bike went sub-par, but I still felt good after the run 12 miles (37 minutes)
And…I changed for the swim…just in time for a bunch of kids to hop in the pool for the third session of lessons!!! Frustrated very. But hey at least I know I can do it now!
