I bought a vintage 30’s freestanding stove and it needs a serious scrub and scrape down…. I started but my arms got tired!

Had needed to clean the oven since I baked an apple pie in September and it caught on fire.
I was so scared about using it or even allowing the self cleaner to clean it.
Finally today I got in there and scrumbed the heck outta it and it’s all better.
The cherubs and I were able to make cookies finally ;o)
(and being able to bake things without opening windows and turning on fans to avoid the shrill beep of the smoke detector!) if you don’t have a self-cleaning oven, baking soda does wonders: dump it on the baked-on goop in your (turned-off, cool) oven, let it sit for a bit, then scrub with the abrasive (but, um, not too abrasive) side of a dish sponge. requires some elbow grease, but it’s still relatively quick and easy, and (best of all, as far as i am concerned) there are no nasty fumes. (also, there’s no need for rubber gloves.)
