Done! I had SO MUCH FUN! At first I was quite nervous because my boss mentioned that when her daughter kayaked the first thing she had to learn was how to roll the kayak, so I thought I might have to do that. Then I figured, hey, if little kids can do this then I definitely can do it too. Turns out I didn’t even need to worry about it because we didn’t do any rolling, in fact I was out on the water for 2 hours and I didn’t even get wet at all! The hardest part was getting in and out of the kayak from the dock, it was a bit awkward having to shift my weight over into an unstable boat. Other than that it was amazing. I learned how to do some basic strokes, how to go forward, backwards, turn, sideways. I got tired a few times because it does require upper body and core strength (which I am completely lacking) but I loved it and I can’t wait to do it again! I think one of my favourite things is that the perspective from out on the water is completely different than being on land. We were in the downtown harbour and there was tons of people and traffic everywhere on land, but on the water it was so calm. We saw 2 herons glide right over our kayaks and tons of little birds and fish. People waved at us from the docks and the harbour ferries. It was so peaceful and relaxing. This is definitely something I am going to continue doing… 20 months ago
