On the course you have to do lots of youth work seeing as it’s a vocational course… so I’ve found a fair few places where I can do it!!
Temporarily volunteered in the gym, youth-working with some guys who had behavioural problems who needed to channel their energy into the gym… but they didn’t really turn up very often so instead I now work with two other youth workers at a special needs youth group each week!
I’m actually LOVING it! Last term they had a dancer come in each week so we were doing cheerleading (on a very basic level). I’m really enjoying getting to know them all and helping them to grow :)
I’d say I have acheived this goal now, due to doing this and also the youth work I’ll be starting in this next month at the drop-in (this may be detatched youth work!! Even more experience for me :) )!!
I’m continuing this course, so hopefully when I start uni I can get a job in youth work wherever I am! :)

As a Christian i believe in playing a role in seeing the lives of the youth of the world, “especialy Australia” being impacted dramatically for the Kingdom of God, for the Glory of Jesus Christ,
I want to play a part in seing people/ youth who have grown up in broken homes and families come off drugs, addictions, so they can live life to the full and at the same time come to know the Lord Jesus Christ and have their name written forever in Heaven!!!!!

College Course
I was at the course last night and this evening… and it’s been really brilliant!!
I will create a portfolio of everything that I learn in class and pictures and information from my different work placements as evidence of putting it all into practice.
Plus this is all for free for me! I think it’s seriously worth it.
The placement with special needs youths is going to be really exciting!!
Also Kerry and Sarah gave me contacts of ‘The Foyer’ and ‘Chilled Out’ which are other places I might be able to help out with youth work!!

YESS MEE!! :)
i’ve just got back from an interview at college to do an extra evening course to gain a VRQ in Youth Work!! :D
it’s fantastic! i was given an unconditional offer to start in a couple weeks time. it now means i will be given lots of places to do practical work, and after i’ve completed the course i can get into paid youth work!!
even better than what i had been expecting!

i reckon this could happen this year. :)
basically, i’ve been attending meetings about setting up a support centre type thing in the new URC in brixham, and i met with jonathan to discuss what i could do there.
i’ll be 18 at the end of this year, which means i should be able to do it then!!
