Buy a motorcycle

It may be awhile before I can afford it, but...  — 3 weeks ago

It’s been over two years since I got my motorcycle endorsement and I still haven’t bought a bike. I still REALLY want one, but it’s been so long since I’ve been on one that it’s becoming more of a fear at this point. Perhaps when the time comes that I can afford a bike… I should take a little refresher course on riding. That would probably be the smart thing to do regardless of the fear.

I want to buy a motorcycle  — 1 month ago

I’ve always wanted to buy a motorcycle ever since I was a kid. I never really had the proper resolve to get it because everyone close to me is against it. Now that I have a stable job I’m determined to finally buy my first bike. I don’t want to get a loan to get this so I’m counting on my ability to save money to get this done.

My Husband picked the Ducati  — 2 months ago

Worth doing!

A 2006 Ducati Multistrda 620. with only 1,900 miles on it. We picked it up last night. Ducati invented a whole new genre with the release of the miltistrada line, capable of spanking even the most specialized of sport bikes. The Multistrada concept combines two completely different types of motorcycles. The “big dual sports” with a pure with a pure sport bike. The revolutionary Ducati Multistrada incorporates the key characteristics of both, the comfort and versatility of the dual sports plus the precise handling and engine power of the sport bikes, combined uniquely by Ducati.

Wow! I finally got the b@lls to go ahead and buy a Harley Davidson Dyna Bob! Great bike. I am fairly tall female(5’10”) so it works for me. I would recommend fit the bike you want think you want on for size first. Make sure your aren’t overreaching with your arms on the handlebars and that you can flat foot the ground at a stop… I did take the Safety Course first and would recommend that to anyone that hasn’t ridden in a few years. It was a great refresher and gave me the confidence to do it. I’ll post some pics soon! Definitely worth doing! I love riding now and do so at every chance I get!

Lose Yourself  — 3 months ago

I bought my Motorcycle two years ago without ever driving anything on two wheels. I had my step-father teach me the basics and the rest is “learn as you go”. I absolutely suggest that you go out today and start looking. Every time I ride, no matter where I am, where I’m going, or what mood I was in before I got on, I always forget about everything and enjoy the ride. It is an incredible feeling.

Bought a Bike! :)  — 3 months ago

Worth doing!

Actually bought this on July 14th 2007, one week after my 41st birthday. She’s a 600cc ‘07 Yamaha FZ6 S2 and just flies like the wind.
A cousin of mine who owns a Harley mentioned that a few years back the average age for someone owning their first bike was around 38-40 and thinks it was up to 41 by the time we talked last so I guess I’m right at that average age.
I wouldn’t mind a Harley someday but really needed something with a lot of proven reliability. I think (hope) the Harley’s have gotten better but I remember at one time the recall rate was 27 out of every 100 bikes. Maybe that was well in the past but, a lot of members of a bike club i belong to own Harleys and there still aren’t many who get to ride them into the meetings because they’re always broke down.

I had an option of getting the 1000cc bike but thought it might be a bit safer to opt for the 600cc (as well as being a bit more affordable) I also skipped over the racing bikes for much of the same reason.

Truth be told, the bike I did get is a screamer and I probably don’t have any business or need (at this time) for anything faster. The 2006 version of my bike is actually a full second quicker in the 0-60 time than a 2008 Corvette Z06.

For someone, like myself, who’s mainly driven 4 cylinder cars the Yamaha is quite a step up in performance. Come to think of it - the Yamaha and Saturn I drive have about the same horsepower! :)

I love my motorcycle!  — 4 months ago

...eventhough my bike has become somewhat of a luxury now that I can walk to work I love the fact that it’s there and I can jump on it and disapear for a few hours.

The freedom that a motorcycle gives is like nothing else because you have to be so focussed when riding. You just can’t think of anything else so everything else dissapears from consciousness.

Go do it – you’ll never regret it!

Ride Safe :)
