    Well....  — 1 year ago

Here I am again…with a goal at a stand still…. This summer has been so busy with Auctions and Aunt Pearl (She’s fine….just “processing” as they say) that the planter hasn’t got done yet….BUT, if it were done I wouldn’t have been able to take these pics of the goldenrod in its full beauty this morning…..That’s Merlin, the ppapa of all the llamas, taking his rest across the pond, after being foiled by the gate!!!!
Small blessings come in weedy guise!!!!!!!

My future son-in-law has taken on the building of the raised bed…We got started this Saturday after several false starts, and so far here we are….he says he’ll have it maybe built by the end of next weekend…..I made him an Apple pie and sent the leftovers home with him….I also helped to build this part by carrying cinder blocks to him….I can sure tell I’ve just come out of winter hibernation !!! thank God for the hot tub….

    Spring  — 2 years ago

I think I’m going to put spring bulbs into the raised bed we will create in the back yard….and a bench arbor situated to look out over the pond….on a sort of rough patio looking thing… I can put a bird bath and a couple of cast iron chairs there as well … Here’s a picture of the before….March 2006
The raised bed will be somewhere around 3 feet high and about as wide…it will follow the contour of the mowed area on the hill top..we have some landscape stone which Darrell got from some barter deal….plenty to do the job, and by doing the beds, I will clear the landscape of 6 pallets full of stone just sitting, waiting to be used. I try to recycle as much as I can….

I love to garden….it soothes my soul when I am un-easy; it pleases my soul when I am “unproductive” and it is my soul, out there for all to share. Who can resist the smell of the sun warming the pale green sage and the sharp green chive amd the tiny lemon green thyme, and the woodsy green rosemary all mixed in with the aroma of the sweet pink rose and the lilac???? I think of my garden as my contribution to the feast of life.
