I am currently doing research on how to start a design firm. Once I’m comfortable with concept protection law, I will proceed.
How to start a design firm
How I did it: 1. Be focus, it is important
2. Find a partner/ partners who have the same vision
3. Consider the expenses that you really need/ not need. Home office may be a good choise in starting.
4. Find customers and be brave to show your strength
5. Bulild your own core compentence
6. Consult more people with experience.
Lessons & tips: Consult more people with experience. But selet the best solution suits you.
Resources: Apply some funds and plans from governments/ big associations.

Ok. i’m making progress on the two family projects. i absolutely love this sh*t. ideally i would be designing for “real” clients but i gotta start somewhere. besides, a design is still a design and it could only help my portfolio.
I’m in the process of convincing myself that I can do this. I have an interior design degree. I’ve worked in construction for 8 years. I’ve done just about as much research as I can do. I have a couple of projects, for family and friends to begin with. And yet, I still feel terrified.
