Throw Pottery

I made these. Hee.

Glazing is harder (messier) than it looks, phew. But I have four things glazed—three of which I actually care about keeping—and ready to be fired now. There’s some other stuff still on the shelf waiting to be bisqued—don’t know why it didn’t go in the last batch, it was sitting there. Well, that’s ok, I guess, because I didn’t really have time to do anything with them last night anyway.

I also have a beautiful (if I do say so myself) bowl waiting to be trimmed that’s rehydrating right now. I hope I’ll have time to trim that sucker on Weds.

I can’t wait to see my finished stuff! I’m so excited!

In the spirit of this goal, I am drinking coffee out of my green mug this morning.

Isn’t it cute? I threw it a few years ago as an undergrad in a beginning ceramics class. It’s dinky, and the bottom is heavy, but I like it.

It has been gathering dust (and dead moths) as a knick knack on the windowsill for, probably, years now. Which is a shame, because it’s a perfectly serviceable little mug. Back when I drank more green tea it was my green tea mug, but I haven’t done that in awhile.

I started taking a pottery class a few weeks ago and I’ve learned a lot already. I’ve made some things that are turning out neat, even if they aren’t technically very good. No finished products yet, but my first batch o’ stuff should have been bisqued over the weekend and are waiting to be glazed now. Hooray, I’m excited.

I’m keepin’ this goal up, even though I’m actually doing something about it, because the point is to keep doing it after the class ends. I really enjoyed that ceramics class I took back in the day, and doing it again has been great. I guess everyone’s getting mugs and bowls this Christmas :)
