Let's get down to it: 23 months ago

I’ve thought a lot about how to actually do this, and decided that I needed to get something metal, like a pipe, to be the inside of the sculpture. I was all set to go to Home Depot to buy one, when my husband suggested that I might look on the internet for suggestions on how others do this . . . . turns out aluminum foil, crumpled pretty tightly, will do it. So now I have the foil, and the clay, and many pictures from all sides of the Falcon. Next step: do it!
P.S. I love the email reminders that I get from myself every week or so. Lovely concept – notes from myself from another time period.

My own private Maltese Falcon 2 years ago

. . . sometimes things just come together in the universe, and you get these subtle signs that point to you doing something. . . . I try to stay open to these things, especially something fun like a new art project. I saw “The Maltese Falcon” the other day on TV, again, and was captivated by the statuette of the movie title. I decided I would like one to look at, but on the internet, they are about $100. Then, ‘maltese’ was an answer in a crossword puzzle that I was working on. . . . so I bought the clay. Now, I’m thinking that I want to make a roughly shaped base or model to put the layer of clay onto, rather than making the thing solid clay. This particular clay will be baked at 275 degrees for 20-30 minutes, so I’m wondering if I can use wood for the base.
