attend daily mass

I’m unable to attend daily Mass at the moment, as we do not have a daily Mass at my local parish. However, with my move to Denver at months end, I plan to begin attending the daily Mass at St. Michael the Archangel, not far from where I will be living.

I hope that this will bring me closer to God, helping me to answer some of the questions that I have and to better discern my vocation in life.

What a blessing it will be to have the opportunity to share in the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ, each and every day.

I’m going to be more conscious about this one. It still won’t be daily – there’s way too many schedule logistics involved. But I do think I can pull it off at least once a week each week.

I’d blocked my schedule to attend, because I knew I was going to have a very difficult meeting with my manager this afternoon, and wanted to ground myself and realign my focus on what matters (God), rather than the noise (silly job stuff). Well, the meeting was unexpectedly moved up before Mass, and it went well (generally). So I still went, but much more in a spirit of relief and thanksgiving. So good to be “home”.

... just won’t happen. Work, kid schedule, life – all these things are in the way.

But I went to Mass tonight – the Vigil Mass, which reminds me more of daily mass at our church. I’m not sure why. I’ve had a really rough couple of weeks, and it reminded me of a couple of years ago when my life was totally a mess, and one of the things that kept me vaguely focused was hitting daily mass 1-2x/week.

As bad as stuff is now, it’s NOTHING like it was then. Being at church tonight helped ground me again, though. I can be all self-righteous about the craziness at work, but really, I’m not called to kill myself over software standards. I’m supposed to be here to listen, trust, believe, love, and serve. The rest is just nuance.

I tagged this with ‘home’ – because my church is home for me. Sometimes it’s not comfortable to go there, but it’s always a place where I can be. I think I need to hit daily Mass at least 1x/week to keep my head aligned and focus where it matters.
