Greaaaat movie… :)
I’ve always loved running, though recently I’ve let myself slip off the wagon. At this point I would probably be out of breath after, say, a quarter of a mile.
Anyway I think running for charity is just a great thing to do all-around. First off, it’s good for your body. Secondly, it’s good for the world! :D And by that, I mean you get to support a local charity by doing something other than just giving them money. You’re giving them public exposure and maybe opening peoples’ eyes to the issues these charities address. Ask ten people on the street and I bet not one of them could name five local charities and their causes off the top of their heads. I want to run a marathon for local charities mainly because I just want to show the individuals who benefit from said charities that there are in fact people out there who still care.
As a side note, I’m also including “Walking for the Cure” in this goal. My family has a long history of cancer of all kinds, and my aunt (whom I adore and have always looked up to) is a ten-year survivor of breast cancer. She’s still going strong to this day. Seeing what cancer and its treatment does to people really makes you appreciate the strength, courage, and determination it takes to get through a trial like that. Walking for the Cure is just one way to recognize and support the struggles of all the victims who have been diagnosed with this disease and stopped it in its tracks.
