learn to sew clothes

i want to make a dress like this one.

Today I made two headbands, they looked like this: -0- if you imagine that the “0” is a hairtie, and the ”—” is material, with the ends attached. I wish I had a camera, so I could post a photo. I am wearing one, right now, and it is spiffy. I am trying to design a fleece hat that has ear flaps to go over my ears, and then also pointy ears on top and a cat face. I have found pictures of similar hats on the internet, but none of them is exactly what I want. I will probably have to create the pattern from scratch. Right now, I am working on a skirt. It is similar to a pencil/sheathe skirt, but it will have elastic in the back, to help me bring it over my hips. I am having a lot of difficulty figuring out how to do this! My mother has promised to help when I visit over Christmas.

Have been looking at patterns and books.

Think I will dive in and go for it with a skirt pattern, and the guidance of the book ‘sew u’, it comes with patterns but sadly I think they might be too small for me, as the book is geared to younger (obviously slimmer) women. Will do what is necessary. Really looking forward to this.

i finished my Pj’s and i made a patch shirt with sushi on it! hard to find good fabric but i’ll keep at it

I once went to a sewing camp (don’t laugh) and it was amazing! We sewed hats, and bags and stuff.. but, that was like, 2 years ago, and I haven’t sewed since then. I want to be able to get fabric, and sew my own clothes, and have people be like.. “where did you get that?” and then, they be surprised when I say “I made it myself.”

it was about 4 years ago, but I sewed my own prom dress – my first foray into sewing clothes. up until that point, i’d made lots of quilts. the dress was hard (even though it was a relatively simple pattern…), but when i was done, i was oh so proud of myself, and looked fantastic!

Granted, I still haven’t learned everything there is to know. But I can still make something. :)

mmmh must be one of my more important goal I ?? about it last night !!!! lol ! Dreamt I was sewing a skirt !! :) What was my subconciousness trying to tell me ?!
When I woke up I thought “43 things” right away !
