Signed up for one today! We’ll see whether I actually retain any of the technique. I’m excited though!

I took some massage classes, Swedish, Nuad Thai and Tuina. I would like to take some Shiatsu class.

CIPTAC exams done 18 months ago

Results due in late June/early July. Fingers crossed- felt satisfied and content with how I performed in both the written and practical exams. Maybe I’ll be licensed and practicing sooner than I know it.

week 4 complete of massage course 2 years ago

So good to be learning and taking steps toward something I’d like to do with my life. It’s an amazing feeling, sort of taking control but letting go at the same time.

21 more weeks until exams!

The Emory Center for Lifelong Learning is offering a four-session basic massage class in February and March. I’ve already registered.

i’m a month into a 9-month program to learn massage – and i’m SO glad i finally did it! it’s amazing, and i’m proud of accomplishing something after dreaming about it for so long. if you ever get the opportunity – do it!

where? 3 years ago

My main problem right now is that I can’t find a place that offers classes! I’m not looking to become a licensed massage therapist—I just want a low-key massage-for-couples type class.

I love giving massages, and most people say I’m good at it and ask if I’ve done a course. It’d be nice to say yes – to actually have a qualification. I find giving massages a great way to talk to people one on one and find things out about their lives and their thoughts. You’re doing something so nice for them, they always reward you with good, open conversation. I also find it a good way to pick up someone’s vibes, or essence. Touch is good for that. Massage is a great way to invade someones personal space without their objecting! Obviously there are some not-so-good connotations that come with massage, which is a worry. Thankfully, I’m not the sort of person that exudes lots of those overtly flirtatious, sensual feminine vibes, so hopefully no one will take the wrong meaning.

Another reason I want to be qualified is that they get people to do free massages for the artists at an arts festival I go to. I’d love to volunteer to do that one year and get to know all those fascinating artists and pick their creative brains!

I think it would be a nice thing to do. I like giving massages to friends and things. It could be an interesting way of earning a little extra cash. Masseuses get invite to the oxford balls and stuff like that.
