Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

zabilcmEbay helps in this

Well ebay has come to my rescue for this one. I was pretty much able to dispose around quite a few items. Sold my SLR camera, something which i was not using for the past 2 years, as I have a digital now. Sold my 4 year old S-VHS camcorder from JVC for a tidy sum.
Now i am waiting to sell Zoom guitar processor which I have not been using in quite some time. 7 years ago

recently got more and more into ebay and want to buy EVERYHTING (there is just so much) and I am realizing i should start selling stuff too to get more money. 8 years ago

DouglasDifficult to Do

I am realizing that actually selling something, anything, can be difficult. I was inspired to create this goal because I was tired of all the accumulated stuff I had. I don’t have as strong a feeling about it now.

Still, giving it a go for maybe 1 week might be illuminating. No, for 1 day. If I make it through 1 day with this goal, that would be an accomplishment. 8 years ago

zabilcmProbably my first sale

I am selling of two high end SLR lenses the coming weekend. Got a potential buyer who is starting to explore photography, my boss.
I invested a lot in photographic equipment around 3 years ago. But if you want to take up photography you need a lot of patience, which I lacked, so I am passing on the equipment to someone who would want to pursue it.

I have a tokina pro lense, a nikkor 300 lense a lot of filters and a tripod for sale. So let’s see how it goes. 8 years ago

zabilcmtechnology sorrounds us

I admit I love gadgets. Whenever a new gadget comes I am hell bent on getting it. Soon these gadgets get outdated and I end up with an unused pile in my house.
So now to stop the pile from getting bigger I am going to stick to this resolve. 9 years ago

This is a great way to offload/share books I’ve finished with, but what about all the other stuff I own? I’ve sold a few things on ebay, which is a start, I suppose. 9 years ago
