I will be heading down to the Mayan temples near Palanque in 2012, a celebration of the end of the mayan calander.

My family and I went in July 2007 and it was amazing. The tour guide we had was so detailed, if you stepped back you can see what went on hundreds of years ago. Talum was breath taking as well. X-Caret was great too, especially the huge show afterwards, with the singing and dancing and look back into time when it all began.
My two teens were amazed.

Now that I’ve learned more about the Mayan civilization I can’t wait to go back.
Aside from the sad history of the Mayans being taken over by the Catholic Spaniards (oh and the human sacrifices), the Riviera Maya was so beautiful and the Mayans are beautiful as well. The ruins in Chichen Itza were absolutely gorgeous. I didn’t get to go to the Tulum Ruins but maybe next time I will…
I was fortunate enough to go to this magical place in Mexico called Chitzinitza. As I climbed towards the top of a pyramid I remember overlooking the grounds and getting a very special feeling. And they did all this with hand tools.
this is actually a friend’s idea, to see those pyramids in mexico on the solstice, so the snake appears in the shadow.
I’m giving up and going on to other things.
Very much worth the trip. The peso is rising so bring more than enough money. Ask me questions, glad to help.
