Japan! 11 months ago

So, I’ve been accepted to go to a Japanese university for a semester. If I keep my GPA over 3.0 I’ll be able to stay for a second semester!

Definetly on my list – maybe working there as a ski instructor perhaps

So far away... 19 months ago

Both the country and the goal. I’ve started looking into the type of jobs I might find to support myself over there. It’s a bit discouraging. They are either very technical jobs, requiring tons of training and experience I don’t have in fields like “cold-press die-casting,” or jobs teaching English which don’t pay that well. I may end up deciding to take the pay cut (especially if things at my current job continue they way they’re going), but it would be difficult. I’ll keep scratching and see what I can come up with.

The idea of living in another country has always fascinated me. Right now Japan is my top choice.

JET Programme? 3 years ago

Well, I applied to the JET programme once, but I turned in my app too late. I would love to learn Japanese. Perhaps make me more marketable. Maybe next year!

Chow for now,

Growing up I started to realize that a lot of really interesting pieces of media were coming out of Japan. I got curious enough to try and learn the language in order to be able to understand more of it. Since then, my fascination with Japanese media has waned somewhat, but I enjoyed learning the language enough that I kept on consuming the culture for the sake of learning the language.

Going to Japan and living there for a year or more will hopefully solidify my Japanese proficiency so that I’m able to focus on learning other languages.

Right now I intend to apply to the JET program in order to accomplish this goal. If I’m not accepted, I may seek employment with one of the Eikaiwa schools in Japan instead.

Livin' in Japan 3 years ago

Doing it now, and at 14 months now. It’s a lot of fun and everything is still new and interesting. The downside can be isolation and the language-barrier. All-in-all a life-changing experience. The experience is very different in the country to the city, so you need to decide what you want out of it.

michelelisa is back... bwhahahaha... *ahem*

This is soooo worth it! 3 years ago

My year in Japan has to be one the most fun, most defining and most liberating time of my life!

I cant wait to go back!

Definitely 3 years ago

It is a goal in my life to live in Japan for at least a year, if not longer. I will do this… and hopefully soon.

Nihon suki desu!
