become an animal rights activist

I HAVE DECIDED TO BECOME AN ANIMAL ACTIVIST AFTER FERAL CATS ARE BEING TRAPPED NEXT DOOR AND MY CAT BEGAN MISSING. RUMOR HAS IT THAT THESE CATS ARE TAKEN TO A SMALL COUNTRY TOWN AND SHOT BY ANIMAL CONTROL. ACCORDING TO DEPT OF AG THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE TAKEN TO HUMANE SOCIETY FOR SEVERAL DAYS TO ALLOW POSSIBLE ADOPTION OR FOR THE OWNER TO CLAIM. THIS HAS HAPPEND SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST BUT PUBLIC ALWAYS LOSES. THIS IS SO CRUEL FOR ANY LIVING CREATURE TO BE TREATED LIKE THIS. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO STOP THIS AND I’M WILLING TO TRY BUT NEED SOME GUIDANCE ON HOW TO GET STARTED. IF WE DON’T STEP UP AND PROTECT THESE ANIMALS NO ONE WILL.

Everyday we lose more and more. The sad part is that more then half the people on earth don’t even realize what we do. Think about how dumb it sounds that we have “An endangered species” list. Seal hunts, Shark finning, Hunting with fully automatic weapons, Killing animals for horns,tusk,skin. I am ready to take on the world on this I have made many changes in my life and I plan to make even more. One being dropping my current job and devoting my time to saving animals. Somebody has to have their back I plan to be that somebody. Anyone who reads this don’t give up you will make a differance if you just believe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!JUST BELIEVE

Sometimes I think I should perhaps change the title of this goal to “making a difference in the life of animals.” Activist seems to connote more of a leafletting/protest approach, whereas I am trying to get involved under many different umbrellas – peacefully promoting vegetarianism, contributing money to worthy causes, volunteering at shelters, raising contributions, buying only cruelty-free cosmetics, etc…

Anyway, the step I took last night was finding a Vegetarian meetup group and I’m going to attend their monthly meetup – dinner at one of my favorite restaurants – this Thursday! I am so excited. I know there have to be a lot of veggies out there – else who is buying all those cookbooks and Gardenburgers and Amy’s frozen entries? – and I’ve made virtual friends with veggies on web boards, but – I’ve never actually MET a fellow vegetarian (that I knew of, anyway). Except for my sister, who converted because of me, and my elderly mom, who’s vegetarian because I do all her shopping & cooking. I am so excited to be meeting these people in person!!

It took a long time to convince her… but my big sister (she who knew only how to make ground beef dishes, married to a meat-loving hunter) has decided to go not just vegetarian, but VEGAN!!! She tells me that I have been a big inspiration :-) and she is coming to me all the time for advice!

I’ve always wanted to find a way to help all the animals in need..I believe this is the beginning of my journey in protecting animals. I am so very passionate about all animals and I want to protect them anyway I can possible. Animals can not speak for themselves so I will speak for them.. I’ve seen so many sights about animal cruelty and pictures and the more I see the more I want to help. Its not fair to the animals..they deserve to live a long happy life without being punished the way they are just like all of us do..

This is something i have always felt very strongly about. It is cruel what some people do for their own satisfaction. These poor little animals cannot speak for themselves so someone has to do it for them. We do not need to harm kill them for clothing there are plently of other alternatives. We dont not need to test all make-up products if people wish to do this test it on yourself, at least you can say if you dont want to do this, but these poor animals have no say it is so so wrong. find better things to do.

this is just about the only cause that i would say that i am passionate about. for the most part, i like animals more than most people. animals need a voice to speak for them… someone to act on their part… and this is what i want to do… just haven’t figured out where to start yet.

I’ve been away for about a year and now I’m a totally different person. But I am now a proud vegan and animal activist, a writer/musician and a supporter of environmental consciousness and humanitarian aid. I feel so proud.

Activism is amazing.

I have always been an animal lover. And just recently (November 3, 2007 I became a vegetarian.) Starting January 1st I will become a vegan. I have said on and off through out my life that I wanted to become a vegetarian. I also used to say I wanted to be a vet, or work with endangered species for a living. But, now I am 110% sure no matter what, that I want to be an animal rights activist. I never knew just how many animals are abused/beaten, killed, and tortured, and it breaks my heart. I want to do something and I will!! I am 17 years old and I will be starting college next August. As of right now I plan on getting my Bachelors in Public Relations. I figured that in order to make a big difference in animals lives and the way people treat them, that being educated in PR would help me know how to get my word out to the public. I am happy knowing that one day I will be able to help so many animals across the country and hopefully the world, but I am very sad to know that for so many it will be way too late and they won’t ever be able to live a great life the way they deserve to. Now that I am informed about how horribly animals are treated it makes me cry all the time thinking that every second (including this very moment) that so many animals are crying, hurting and wanting help, and dying. I wish I could save them all. Knowing of their pain, keeps me up at night. I wish all of them could be saved.

i’ve wanted to become an activist for animal rights for a while. i went lacto-ovo vegetarian 18th May 2007 at the age of 12 and then recently went vegan. then i started creating slideshows about vegetarianism etc and sending them off to all my contacts with a side note and asked everyone who receives it to pass it on and get their friends to pass it on etc. i guess its kinda like cyber activism but i dont know if it counts. ah well… its a start!
