Been doing kickboxing for a few months now, and am enjoying it immensely. Yay! I think I can “cross this off” my 43 things list now!

How to do more Cardio
How I did it: I'd been wanting to get back into my taiji routine for years, but wanted a good instructor who knew the long-form of Yang style taiji. I liked the guy at a friend's gym, but they were in downtown Boston (chinatown district) - so that meant impossible parking after work. This spring/summer they moved to a new, renovated space in another district where I can easily get to after the office, and that helped with the logistics. Once I'd been there a few times, I realized I really liked the people & atmosphere (great attitude, great sense of humor of instructors and of other gym people). Once I started, I really wanted it to be part of my weekly routine. Now I go 3 times a week, sometimes 4, it just depends what else I'm up to.
Lessons & tips: I guess my obstacle was partly one of logistics, and partly one of time management. Make sure that you consider both how long it takes you to get to where ever you have to go, or how much space it would take up in your home. I found it helpful that I have a few friends at the gym who email me and check whether I'm coming to class or not - which makes it more fun.
Resources: I didn't really need much in terms of a "product" but the positive, respectful attitude at the gym, and the great sense of humor of everyone there - that was a big contributor to my comfort level. No testosterone poisoning there! also no - as my friend Erika put it - "born-again Asian" phenomenon, LOL.

I love running already from the release of endorphins but I get bored sooo easily on the treadmill. I thought I was doing good on the cardio by myself – I did about 20 minutes every other day, totalling to about and 1 to 1.5 hours of cardio per week.
THEN, I had a free personal trainer session and my trainer recommended 3-5 hours of cardio per week.
DOH!!!
Lately I have been hitting 3 hours, but just barely. I hope to increase my cardio hours closer to 5 hours with ease.
By the time I get home, I’m ready to relax and snuggle in bed and read or watch a little TV. But the scale is saying I need to stop my nightly routine. Last night I went with 3 friends and played an hour of tennis. It kicked my butt and I feel sore today, but it was so much fun. We had such a great time, it didn’t feel like cardio! I think I’ll be able to stick with tennis and hopefully burn off these miserable pounds, hopefully!
I rode my bike to the garden plot several times this weekend. I think it’ll take a while before I’m not so tired on the hill, but considering the slope (steep) I don’t feel badly about it.
will go towards the cardio goal, as well as a couple others. I have decided after all that I’ll go by way of the hill, i.e., up and over it, saving me 5 miles and pushing up the cardio rating of my commute.
well i have been doing this consistently every week for 4 or 5 months. I reached my fitness goal of being able to jog 30min straight and i have been doing so 3-4 times a week. I have asthma so this feels like a huge accomplishment for me. I have never been able to do this, even as a litle kid. Plus i feel great!
I’ve done run/walks for 1 mile for the past 4 days, I feel the best I have in months. I want to continue doing it until my 5k walk this Sept 30
I’m loving the elliptical trainer. Have been doing 30 minutes on that, and then 10 minutes on the bike. Feeling good. Much easier on the old knees than running.
got my gym membership. Plan on starting with the elliptical machine. Running is so challenging due to exercise-induced asthma. I rarely ever break through to where it’s just not torture.
I’ve never done cardio cuz to me it implyed running, which really is not appealing to me. Running in place on a treadmill and/or running around in circles on a track? Yuck. I cannot make myself do it. (Believe me, I’ve tried on a number of occasions.) However, today I broke down and bought a cardio hip-hop dance DVD. Because I’m a dancer, I figure that’ll be something fun for me to do and it won’t be a chore for me to do cardio!
