go camping again

When I was a kid, we went camping all the time. Backwoods, in Keji, hiking, drive-ins, canoeing, kayaking, portaging, ocean-side, lake-side, anything. I vaguely miss it. Now that I’m older and can actually go long distances and not have to worry about bringing enough Archie comics to entertain me for a weekend, maybe I’d enjoy it even more. Plus the whole drinking in the woods and getting in touch with nature sounds kinda nifty.

Plus nothing tastes as good as food cooked over a camp stove or open fire. Being outside somehow makes even the cheapest Tuna Helper taste like ambrosia.

My girlfriend and I are planning to go back soon.. maybe in a couple weeks. I can’t wait!

I was able to FINALLY go camping again… its been about 3 or 4 years since I last went. It didn’t last very long at all since it was cut early due to having to come back to work… Next time, I gotta make sure I can get out there for a week or two!

It was pretty fun while it lasted, although I have to say we did a helluva lot more driving than we wanted to… but the views were beautiful along the way. :) Besides, it felt like a mini road trip anyways. :D

Definitely want to do it again!!

About to leave for my third camping trip of the year so far (and it’s still May)! I’m loving this…

I just got back from camping again. I think this is the first time that I’ve gone more than once in one year :-) Beach camping this time. I love the beach but for camping I think that woods are better…better atmosphere.

I love love love camping and plan to do it a LOT. This time I went with my friend Amanda and some of our friends and her dad and 2 of his friends. Amanda and her dad and his friends used to go every year to this same spot along the Deleware River. They said next summer is probably the last year they are going and it’s up to the next generation (amanda and us) to carry on the tradition. We could do that. :) The last night we were there I slept outside in my sleeping bag next to the fire and under the stars. It was beautiful. Everyone thought I was insane for sleeping outside of a tent. What can I say. I love it.

In July I took 5 of my grandsons, my grown son and his daughter and took off to Cape Cod for a week. We stuffed ourselves into 2 tents, sat around the campfire and stuffed ourselves with hot dogs, corn on the cob and marshmallows, swam, went on a 2 hour Cape Cod Canal cruise,took some beautiful pictures, and made som beautiful memories. We WILL be going back again next year!

It was the greatest camping trip of my entire life. It rained a little bit, and we lost half of our group by the end of the first day, but it was worth it and we wanna go again!

and now I’m going again!!

Yay, I’m going camping in Big Sur this weekend with some of my friends. I’m so excited!!
