So even though I live with my boyfriend and our friend Trevor and we are all of college age. We have pooled our money together and are buying healthy real food.
We are also cooking nightly dinners instead of going out all of the time.
I have not had fast food this whole summer and I am really happy with myself.
I’ve been a vegetarian for 5 years now and a vegan for 2 years and I feel the healthiest I’ve ever felt.
I’ve been keeping an internet food log on Calorie-Count and it really helps.
I eat about 25% fat (nearly all of it unsaturated), 15% protein, 60% carbohydrates (most from fruits and vegetables and a little from whole grains). I always eat my 5+ daily servings of fruits and vegetables. I eat, on average, 28 grams of fiber daily. My daily sodium intake is less than 2,000mg. I drink 2-3 liters of water daily. I also avoid processed/prepackaged foods. I’m an amazing cook and I make everything from scratch. I’ve managed to maintain a weight loss of 35 pounds for 5 years due to my vegetarian/vegan diet.
I’ve also just started a vegan foodblog called Vegan Heaven. Check it out if you’re curious about what I buy and how much I spend on groceries, what I eat, and yummy vegan recipes.
...to prepare the stuff and have it ready to eat. Like most people, I get home and want to eat without a lot of hassle preparing it.
