How to go to Niagara Falls by urhairispretty

"After 14 hours in the car, we finally saw the beautiful, awe-inspiring Niagara Falls!"

How I did it: We drove to Sandusky, NY and spent the night, which was pretty cool too. I'd like to go back and spend some time at Cedar Pointe. Then we drove to the Falls and spent two nights there. We did Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds.

Lessons & tips: If I was to go back I would do everything... whirlpool, museum, Canada's behind the falls tour, Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds... everything short of grabbing a barrel.

Resources: I didn't really do much research. I just wanted to see it.

    In my imagination, it’s the roar…

    I can’t wait until I can, in real life, close my eyes and experience the great roaring sound of the massive falls for myself…permanently record the sound in my mind to be ‘conjured up’ in the future at any given time that I want to recall the experience.

    I was driving back from upstate New York by myself and I was so close I just had to stop. I ended up doing the Maid of the Mist boat ride that goes into the Falls. I usually take big trips like that with friends but it was actually really nice exploring on my own.

    I did really enjoy myself when I went there on my honeymoon, but it is overrated. The falls are a lot smaller than I thought they would be, and there were a lot of elderly people there. Not the BEST place for a young married couple, but it’s something I’ll never forget doing and I wouldn’t have traded it for any other place. If you go, you should definitely spend the money to get a room overlooking the falls—you can see so much more.
